Naeher Shines in Semifinal Victory

The United States Women's National Team (USWNT) defeated Germany 2-1 in the semifinals of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup on Tuesday night. The win sends the USWNT to the gold medal match on Sunday, where they will face the winner of the other semifinal match between England and Sweden.
Alyssa Naeher was brilliant in goal for the USWNT, making several key saves to keep the Germans at bay. Sophia Smith scored the opening goal for the USWNT in the 33rd minute, and Lindsey Horan added a second goal in the 83rd minute. Germany pulled one back in the 90th minute, but it was too little, too late.
The USWNT will be looking to win their fifth World Cup title on Sunday. They have won the tournament in 1991, 1999, 2015, and 2019.
