Delays continue

As of 6 a.m. ET, the Atlanta-based airline had canceled more than 200 flights, according to FlightAware. The vast majority of those cancellations were for flights within the United States, but some international flights were also affected. "We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and are working to get them to their destinations as quickly as possible," Delta said in a statement. "We are experiencing a higher-than-normal volume of cancellations due to a combination of factors, including weather and operational challenges." Delta is the latest airline to experience widespread flight cancellations in recent weeks. United Airlines and Southwest Airlines have both canceled hundreds of flights in recent days due to weather and staffing shortages. The flight cancellations are causing major headaches for travelers, many of whom are trying to get to their destinations for the holidays. "I've been trying to get to New York for three days now," said one traveler who was stranded at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. "I'm starting to get really frustrated." Delta said it is working to rebook passengers on other flights and is offering refunds to those who are unable to travel. The airline is also urging passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport. "We understand that this is a stressful time for travelers," Delta said. "We are doing everything we can to minimize the inconvenience and get our customers to their destinations as quickly as possible."
